Bloomer Tutorial!

I have an absolute obsession with bloomers. I need to get better at sewing so I can put this tutorial to use. I've been told this is beginner friendly so I'll try to stay confident in my abilities and put up my results as soon as I get it done! You can download the pattern for free here.

Creative Love

Made this card last night for the man of the house and slid it in his apron before he went to work this morning.

And in it is a poem by Edward Lear.

.
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea
In a beautiful pea green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
'O lovely Pussy! O Pussy my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are,
          You are,
          You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!'
II
Pussy said to the Owl, 'You elegant fowl!
    How charmingly sweet you sing!
O let us be married! too long we have tarried:
But what shall we do for a ring?'
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the Bong-tree grows
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood
With a ring at the end of his nose,
          His nose,
          His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

III
'Dear pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?' Said the Piggy, 'I will.'
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the Turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince, and slices of quince,
    Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
          The moon,
          The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Refurbishing crazy

Having just moved to a new house a few weeks ago, I've had to create ways to make our furniture match my personality. All the furniture was given to me by my father so it's a little old fashioned but I've thought up of a solution. Let's just say, I've become a little obsessed lately with spray paint. ;)

I've taken an extra nightstand that won't fit in my room and turned it into a piece of art to go in my little studio.
*Note: First time using spray paint.
*Another Note: This took me about 5 tries before I even got it lookin' like this.

Yes, this is a record player/8 track player/and radio hidden into what seems like a large dresser. And yes it was transformed from a dingy, throw away to a beautiful piece for our living room.

Luckily for me, my job isn't finished yet. I'm currently working on the book shelves in the living room to make a matching set! I fortunately had bought 1 too many cans of paint so I have just enough to finish the room off.

Summer Inspiration

Need to invest in more high waisted shorts for the summer. You'd be surprised how easy it is to find a pair of old high waisted pants from the thrift store and just cut, cuff, and sew. Thinking about it now, why don't I have more? *Project for the next few weeks. Since high waisted shorts used to be a thing of the past, many people have a hard time making it modern so here's a few fashion tips on the best ways to wear it!

  • Add a belt- High waisted shorts should accentuate (obviously) your waist, so wear your pair with a belt to help bring the focus in. I prefer belts with a leather feel and a vintage buckle or braided belts in an earthy tone color.
  • Tuck in your blouse- Again, tucking in your blouse will help keep the focus on your stylish pair of shorts and will give you a polished look! Also, the shirt or blouse you have chosen will help determine the look you are looking for -casual, formal, or fun and crazy.
  • Heels or sandals- You can definitely pair your high waisted shorts with a pair of sandals for a more fun and casual look or a pair of heels for a more formal yet fashionable look. The pair of heels will look great on someone shorter as they will help elongate your legs.
  • Crop top galore- The beauty of high waisted shorts is that you can wear a crop top and not have to worry about showing too much skin. Especially if you are of shorter height like me or have a shorter torso, the crop top usually ends where the high waisted shorts begin. Perfect combination if you ask me!
